It took some of the enjoyment out of the story for me. I can’t say I enjoyed many of the parts with the vampire like creatures, just too gross for my tastes. I really enjoyed the parts with Lachlan and his clan and of course the romance with Kinley. I was expecting a Highland romance however I didn’t expect vile, undead creatures to be in the mix. The story wasn’t quite what I expected, though the storyline was quite unique and creative. He certainly made it an enjoyable listening experience.

His voices were great, both male and female, and he used emotion and proper inflections where necessary. William MacLeod did a fabulous job narrating this story. I'm looking forward to the next installment! I should also note that both the author and narrator did a great job portraying Kinley's PTSD. The author merged a Highlander romance with time travel (nothing new there.) He mixed in some zombies and some druids, sprinkled in immortality (now that's new) and an incredible listen was born. He was a perfect choice for this listen and the biggest reason why Lachlan and Kinley had so much depth. At one point Lachlan tells Kinley that he 'wanted his seed on her thighs every morning for the rest of their lives.' As written, it doesn't sound that sexy but put in the proper setting with that Scottish brogue and he became Jamie Fraser 2.0. There were some steamy moments but they were incredibly tasteful. When their worlds collided, wonderful things happened. Oh, and did I mention the Druids? I loved everything about this listen. Getting all three with this listen made it sooooo much fun. We are all accustomed to time travel books, zombie books, and even books set in historic Scotland with lairds and wenches. Time travel, Scots, and zombies? Yes, please! Mature readers comfortable with dark themes only please. Join the romantic realm of the Immortal Highlanders by picking up this audiobook today. He and his men know all too well that the magic folk never give without taking. Not only does the mysterious lass save his life, she awakens his heart in a way he’d thought no longer possible.īut the druid spells that allow Lachlan’s clan to live forever have a dark side as well.
